Swimming
The inviting clear waters of Hubbard lake won’t disappoint your Michigan vacation water activities. You’ll find our lake front getaway, with no muck or weeds, consisting of pebbles and sand, turning into an all hard sand bottom 25 feet from shore. Making it even more swimmer friendly there are no drop offs, just shallow water making slow  gradual depth changes the further out from shore.

Boating
Boaters, you’ll have plenty of miles of shoreline to explore along the picturesque landscape of Hubbard Lake. While exploring take time to anchor at one of the several sand bars to, swim, play, relax….you’ll no what to do! Hungry, motor over to the east bay and tie up to the dock at Churchill Point restaurant for dinning. Several bays on the lake give more opportunities for calmer water to water skiers, jet skiers, tubers and fishermen.

Michigan Fishing
Fishing on the lake can be very good for perch, walleye, smallmouth bass depending on the time of year. Perch on Hubbard lake gave name to the lake as a perch lake back in the day. Than, it went through years of declining perch catches to every ones dismay. Although, now the lake is starting to give rise in perch catches again, the real treat on this lake is the small mouth bass. Spring, summer or fall they are the go to fish for consistent action. They’re a whole Lotta fun. Other species of fish that can be caught on a ventures fishing getaway on Hubbard Lake, Michigan are pike, sunfish, rainbow trout, whitefish, musky and catfish.

Hunting
Deer hunting and small game hunting represent a very special time of year here. The seasonal color changes to embrace, the undisturbed natural beauty of the forest to sit and ponder, the peacefulness of uninhabited human spaces! It’s a quiet time of year around here to do a Michigan Getaway, from it all! Thousands of acres of federal land to hunt with very good deer, turkey and small game populations.

Golfing Getaway
Golf fans I’d be amiss if I did not give it some attention. There are several nearby golf courses within 30 minutes. The White Pine National Golf Club is one. Mind you I am not a golfer, but it has national in its title, so it might be worthy to check out, aside its only 15 minutes away. Back Nine golf course, I tried it. Why, because the name says it all. Great 9 hole beginners course where I felt right at home…..comfortable. Uninhibited environment, move along at your pace……nice place to get the kids and wife in golf without embarrassing anyone!

Visit Alpena

A short 25 minute drive to the North will take you to the city of Alpena. It’s a city rich in maritime heritage, with many arts and cultural opportunities.
